"And I think like that as a painter - in painting these it's like I'm sculpting them in a strange way. That might have something to do with why I'm not so interested in conveying a sense of things like the veins and the blood running through the body or the way the collarbones poke out from the flesh as much as the color values and the shapes of the figures."
