Condition
Colours: The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is much brighter and more vibrant, with the yellow tending more towards marigold, the burgundy towards crimson and the light red towards pink in the original.
Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is a very small faint media stain in the red paint to the centre of the bottom edge, only visible upon very close inspection. There is a very faint rub mark to the centre of the figure's chest. There are three minute rub marks with associated specks of paint loss to the blue paint between the figure's thighs. There is a small dent to the centre of the extreme right hand edge which has several small spots of associated retouching. There is a thin scratch to the blue paint towards the upper centre of the extreme right hand edge which has been retouched, and another very fine scratch with an associated line of retouching to the blue paint towards the centre of the top edge of the work.

Catalogue Note
"[With the 'Bedroom Paintings'] it was more a question of heightening the intimacy of the viewers encounter with the whole situation, as if one suddenly found oneself rather improperly in bed with seductively attractive women smiling unselfconsciously in anticipation of sexual pleasure."
