Condition

Colours: The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the overall tonality is slightly deeper and richer with the yellow-orange tending more towards true orange and the sea green more towards deep green in the original. Condition: This work is in good condition. There are scattered light spots of brown accretion in places along the edges of the dark blue shape in the top left hand corner, presumably from the original adhesive that has oxidised with age. There are scattered media spots to the yellow shape towards the edges of the orange shape and a light rub mark to the left hand edge towards the bottom corner, and another media stain towards the top right hand corner of the orange shape. There is a light rub mark towards the centre of the left hand green shape. There are two small spots of lifting to the bottom left hand corner of the yellow shape. There is evidence of light wear to the centre of the left hand orange shape, one towards the bottom right hand corner of the right hand orange shape and one to the top right hand corner tip of the same shape. The edges of the dark blue fabric in the bottom right hand corner are frayed in places. There are two spots of light wear to the top edge of the light blue shape and two spots of retouching apparent in the light blue shape to the left and right hand corner tips. On the reverse, there are three canvas patches which appear to address flaws in the original canvas upon which the collage is mounted. The adhesive that surrounds these canvas patches has oxidised consirably suggesting that they are original, as there is no evidence of any restoration on the surface collage on the front.
