Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original, with deeper contrasts and more saturated colours. (i) The image in the catalogue illustration is flipped. Condition: Each work is in very good condition and is attached to a backing board at intervals along the edges: (i) The sheet is very slightly undulated, likely to be orignal to the type of handwove paper used by the artist. There are a number of very light creases to the left and right edges. There are a few tiny pinhead-sized media spots around the margins and a few to the plate. (ii) The sheet is slightly naturally undulated and there are a number of brown fibres scattered around the margins, which appear to be natural to the paper weave. There is a small media accretion to the centre of the right margin and an unobtrusive watermark above. Some very slight creasing to the upper left corner. (iii) The sheet is very slightly naturally undulated and there are extremely light and unobtrusive creases to the left and right edges. There is a tiny lift to the deckling towards the top of the left extreme edge and to the right of the upper extreme edge. There are tiny spots of discolouration to the top part of the right margin and two tiny media accretions below. Upon close inspection there are a few very fine drying cracks to thicker passages of gouache. (iv) The sheet is naturally slightly undulated. There are two creases to the lower right of the figure's torso and a further small crease to the lower left corner of the plate. A few tiny media specks are visible to the top right corner of the plate and around the margins. Upon close inspection there are a few tiny unobtrusive drying cracks to thicker passages of gouache. (v) There is some natural undulation to the sheet. There is a tiny indentation to the upper centre fo the left extreme paper edge. There are a few extrmely small and unobtrusive pigment specks, some of which are likely to be intrisic to the paper weave, to the upper margin and elsewhere to the margins. There are some very small creases to the lower right corner and a small line of media to the lower part of the right edge.
