Condition
Colours: The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the illustration fails to convey the richly textured surface and detail of the original.
Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is light wear to the bottom left and top left and right hand corner tips. There is a very small spot of media loss to the extreme left hand edge towards the bottom corner and one towards the centre of the bottom edge. There are extremely fine hairline tension cracks running in places along the left and right hand edges, only visible upon close inspection. There are networks of very fine and stable drying craquelure to some of the thicker white impasto, predominantly in the lower section of the work and some further extremely fine and stable drying craquelure to the black paint towards the centre right of the upper left hand quadrant. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals three small spots of retouching, two to the white paint towards the centre of the right hand edge and one to the white paint closest to the centre of the bottom edge.
