Condition
The canvas is original. There are two tears in the canvas towards the upper right edge of the work where some small spots of the canvas have been lost and these would need restoration work. There is also a small tear towards the lower left corner and another one just to the left of the woman's head both of which would benefit from some restoration. Otherwise in good overall condition, clean and with bright colours. Ultraviolet light reveals two lines of retouching visible just below the woman's waist which correspond to repairs in the canvas. Held in a decorative plaster moulded gilt frame.
