Description
représentant un acteur assis, non signé, sous verre
Condition
The portrait is mounted on a section of screen which is now framed individually in a gilt wood frame, therefore probably originally part of a group of portraits on a multiple panels screen. The painting is somewhat soiled as expected in areas but the colours, background and gilt details are more bright than the illustration would suggest (please see the photographs attached). There is some overall wear to the background paper and three repaired woodworms. There are a few holes on her garments (a small hole about 2 x 2mm on the collar of her dress, two others about 4 x 1mm by the hem. possibly others difficult to see) and horizontal crises to the coloured enamels to the lower part of her dress and the tatami mat on which she sits, but overall the painting has been well preserved by it glazed frame.
