Description

  • An Etruscan Terracotta Head of a Woman
  • Height 11 3/4 in. 21.9 cm.
from a votive figure, wearing an applied necklace of globular beads and applied tear-shaped earrings decorated with bosses and stippling, her portrait-like face with slightly smiling mouth and broad cheekbones, her wavy hair falling in symmetrically arranged luxuriant curls, the cloak lifted as a veil over her head.

as shown, tip of nose chipped, surface somewhat weathered, veil abraded and chipped, remains of dark slip or incrustation over most of hair and neck
