Catalogue Note

A cluster of at least three substantial buildings is visible in the background of this photograph.  The largest, a long stone-fronted structure, is too large to be a house, but may be a workshop of some sort.  Like Lot 18, this photograph shows the same compositional sensibility as several landscape drawings by Théodore Rousseau.

Gauss does not list this salt print in her census, but lists another salt print and an albumen print.
