A Santa Ana Polychrome Jar

circa 1815, the thick-walled vessel of flaring form with concave base and rounded shoulder beneath a tapering neck, painted over a worn creamy slip in red and black, with a frieze of terraced motifs interspersed with checkered, hatched and outlined geometric  devices, parallel bands above and below, surmounted by a row of scalloped arches, one of diminutive form.
