A Zuni Polychrome Jar

circa 1880, with concave base, high rounded walls, and slightly compressed shoulder, painted over a crackled cream slip in sienna and dark brown, with four friezes enclosing white-backed deer with heart-line, above and below hooked feather arches, a narrow frieze of stylized birds at the mid-section, the neck decorated with classic geometric details and cross-hatching.
