Description

  • Length: 66 cm
carved in hardwood of plano-convex section, one side of the distal end replete with incised meandering traditional motifs tapering to an undecorated handle or throwing end, deep glossy patina overall

Condition

There is a small crack in the club approximately 1.5 cm long half way along the lower edge and a small nick to the edge at the throwing end. There appears to be no repairs or restoration.

Catalogue Note

This early, rare and exceptional boomerang club has motifs that suggest that it originates from Western Australia. It is almost certainly stone carved and its deep glossy patina suggests an early collection date
