Description
- Length: 96.5 cm
carved in hardwood of elongated ovoid form and plano-convex section, the front engraved with zig-zag and linear motifs divided into five sections infilled alternately with black and white earth pigment, the reverse similarly engraved with zig-zag and linear designs divided into ten sections with loop handle of circular section, old shiny patina overall
Condition
The shield appears to be in particuarly good condition for an example of this age. There is a fine hairline crack extending from the top of the shield approximately 8 cm along and there appears to have been no repairs or restoration.
