Description
- Length: 86.5 cm
carved in hardwood of ovoid form, the front with centrally raised boss decorated with totemic designs in red, yellow and white pigments outlined in black, with substantial battle scarring to the edges, the reverse undecorated with cut lug handle

Condition
There is substantial pigment loss to the facade of the shield and many areas of battle scarring to all surfaces of the shield, many of which have been created by contact with sword clubs. There are many fine holes in the shield, particuarly to the reverse created by insect damage and the shield has been pierced with large holes at either end most probably to assist with its display in the past
