Description

  • Lengths: 85 cm, 80 cm, 77.3 cm
all carved in hardwood of elongated ovoid form, engraved with traditional motifs to the front and reverse, and with loop handles; two examples have the designs highlighted with natural earth pigments

Condition

The shield with circular motifs has many hairline cracks to the front and back and many small areas of pigment loss. The shield with the rectangular motifs has minor areas of wood missing to the edges and the shield without earth pigments is in good condition overall, none appear to have restoration or repairs
