Catalogue Note

The present cabinet, although unarguably 19th century, interprets the Louis XVI style for the contemporary buyer. On the basis of the use of expensive ebony veneer, the rectangular shape, centered by a cupboard en ressaut decorated with a classical medallion and flanked in the corners by female terms, emulates the style of Adam Weisweiler. A similar model can be seen in a preparatory drawing by Weisweiler, dated 7 September 1784, in the Folliot fils collection, op. cit. Lemonnier p. 39.
