Catalogue Note
During the Seven Years' War (1756-1763), Dresden was repeatedly exposed to fierce attacks. The worst consequences for the city arose from the Prussian bombardment of July 1760, which destroyed the old Kreuzkirche and transformed large parts of the area of Neumarkt into rubble. The stone dome of the Frauenkirche withstood the bombardment.
