in the manner of the Mohn Workshop, the cylindrical form painted with a castle within a black line rectangular panel, inscribed below Ortenberg in der Ortenau, the reverse with a coat-of-arms, inscribed below Leonhard v. Berkholtz, all below an amber-stained rim edged with a black line

Catalogue Note
This view of the ruins closely follows a steel-engraving by Gustav Adolph Müller, circa 1838. In its ruined state, the castle was purchased by Baron von Berckholtz in 1833.
