Catalogue Note

Karl Günther was attracted by Baron Klinglin to his glasshouse at Vallerysthal in Lorraine, northern France. Here he is known to have produced cut and engraved glass. Attention was drawn to the company's display at the 1844 national exhibition in Paris. The exhibition report mentions, however, that the unnamed 'skillful engraver' had left France two years previously. It is presumed that this engraver was Karl Günther.
