Catalogue Note
The scene is based on an engraved view by Matthaeus Merian, circa 1650, from the Topographia Bohemiæ, Moraviæ et Silesiæ series (See Zoedler, op.cit., p.78, pl.29). The author suggests that the initials C.S.K. may be those of a member of the glass engraving family of Kahl.
