These jardinières are copies of a model probably made by William Trotter of Edinburgh, circa 1815, for the Marquess of Tweeddale at Yester House; see F. Bamford, A Dictionary of Edinburgh Wrights and Furniture Makers 1660-1840, 1983, pl. 73.
