There is craquelure to much of the surface, especially within the sky and and the hills in the foreground. There are artist's pinholes in the corners, and to the centre of the upper and lower edges. An area of paint has been chipped away to the centre of the upper edge. There has been some frame abrasion causing minor paint loss to the edges of the work. Held in a gilt wooden and plaster frame. There is no evidence of retouching under ultraviolet light.
