Description

- roadside in spain
- signed; also signed and titled on the reverse
- oil on board
- 53 by 43.5cm.; 20¾ by 17in.
Condition
The work is executed on the rough side of the board and the texture is visible throughout. There is a small indentation under the foot of the right hand figure and there is a small scratch in the top right corner of the work. The four edges of the board have been slightly marked by the edge of the frame although this is disguised by the frame. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals scattered areas of retouching to the sky near the top edge of the work, to the back, skirt and washing basket of the central figure, to the right leg of the figure on the right, to the shirt of the man on the far left, and to several small spots in the surrounding landscape. The surface of the painting is dirty and would benefit from a professional clean. Under glass and held in a red and green painted wooden frame.
