- oil on board
- 37.5 by 52cm.; 14¾ by 20½in.
Provenance
Durlacher Brothers, New York
Private Collection
Condition
The board appears to be providing a good sound support.
Some scuffs to the paint surface at the exteme right edge of the board may have been caused by the frame rubbing. Otherwise the paint surface generally appears to be in good original condition, sound and stable throughout. However, there are blotches of surface mould clustered near the lower edge and the work would benefit greatly from a thorough professional clean.
Inspection under UV light does not reveal any later retouchings.
Presented unglazed in a grey painted wood frame which shows signs of old woodworm but appears to be structurally sound.
