Provenance
Waddington Galleries, London, whence purchased by Mr and Mrs Milnes-Smith (as 'Red, White and Blue plus Linen'), 8th November 1963 for £90
Condition
Original canvas. There are some very minor handling marks in the bottom left corner and some very minor scattered surface dirt otherwise in excellent original condition with some strong passages of impasto.
Under ultraviolet light, there appear to be no signs of retouching.
Held in a painted white frame under glass; unexamined out of frame.
The colours are slightly more vibrant than the catalogue illustration suggests and the surface is more textured, notably among the white tones in the upper half of the composition.
