Catalogue Note
Alongside his passion for good food and funghi, Carluccio has been carving sticks for over 30 years 'following up from having a stick as a child to pick mushrooms' (Antonio Carluccio, March 2007). So honed is his whittling skill, that in 2006, Antonio was invited to the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial in Japan where he taught locals to find and carve the perfect mushroom hunting stick. Although many of his works of art have been gifted to friends, the present lots are the first to have ever been sold.
