Condition

The canvas is unlined. It has suffered a dent lower right and there is a 2in. indented scratch lower left. There is also a very faint L-shaped scratch (approx.6in.) at the bottom of the central blue section. Faint stretcher marks are also visible at the upper and lower edges. The paint surface is marked by various short hairline cracks and localised areas of craquelure. One or two of the cracks appear to be lifting slightly, particularly in the green-blue area on the left hand side. The work would benefit from professional attention to stabilise these areas and minimise the dents. The work is also very dirty, particularly around the edges of the canvas, and there are various blotches of surface bloom in the central blue area which should be removed with a professional clean. Please note that the catalogue illustration bears little resemblance to the original - all of the colours are far more vibrant and saturated than they appear in the catalogue.
