Condition
Original canvas. There are some strokes of retouching in the upper background, around the painter's legs and to the left edge of the work visible under ultraviolet light. There is a patched repair on the reverse visible on close inspection from the front in the face of the standing lady and another repair visible from the front towards the upper left corner. The work has a slightly uneven varnish layer. Held in a partially ebonised plaster moulded gilt frame.
