Diana Copperwhite b.1969

Microcosmos seeks to explore what the artist refers to as the 'idea of somebody' rather than any recognisable person.  Copperwhite's work is built up of visual images from memory, some personal and some removed and they express her vision of the world around her; her own Microcosmos. Inspiration is specifically taken from her surrounding environment, for example, the pines trees in the globe on the left of the composition are directly influenced by her recent trip to Canada.

Born in Limerick, Copperwhite studied at the Limerick School of Art and Design, the N.C.A.D. and the Winchester School of Art. She has exhibited extensively including solo exhibitions at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Dublin; The Rubicon Gallery, Dublin; the Panorama Gallery, Barcelona and the Limerick City Gallery of Art. Earlier this year, she was also selected by Aidan Dunne to be included in the Other Visions exhibition at Purdy Hicks, London.
