Catalogue Note
In a letter, dated 23 November 2005, Nico van Hout, curator of the Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp, confirms the attribution to Adam van Noort. He considers the present portrait an interesting adittion to the oeuvre of the artist, as we know Adam van Noort mainly as a painter of history scenes. It may serve as a basis for reconstructing Van Noort's portrait oeuvre.
