Catalogue Note
St. Blaise, Bishop of Sebaste (died ca. 316), lived in a cave and was a healer of men and animals. He saved a child from choking on a fish bone, which led to the blessing of throats on St. Blaise day. Patron of the wool trade, he was martyred by being beaten, his flesh torn with wool combs, and was then beheaded.
