Catalogue Note

Lahloo was built in 1867, the year the present work was executed.  She was designed by William Steele, built in the Steele & co. dockyard, Greenock and launched on 23rd July for owner Alexander Rodger.  She measured 191ft. 6in. in length and weighed 799 tons.  She was captained by John Smith, late of the Tea Clipper Min.

The following year Lahloo sailed from Foochow to London in 101 days with a cargo of over 1.2 tons of tea.  Her record time of ninety-eight days for the same journey was recorded in 1870.  She was finally wrecked on Sandalwood Island of the Sunda Archipelago in July 1872, sailing from Shanghai to London.
