Description
The hinged spectacles contained within a case set with a disc of apple green jade, the handle composed of a jade cylinder, set with 59 old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 6.50 carats, mounted in platinum, signed N&T, supported on a platinum chain of fancy links decorated with another jade cylinder, the terminals set with single-cut diamonds, length approximately 33 inches.
Condition
Very good condition, the jade a slightly lighter color than illustrated with some mottling.
The diamonds are overall H-J color, vs/si clarity

Catalogue Note
The spectacles in this lot are signed N&T along with the maker's mark for Ben I. Wisnia, listed as working in San Francisco between 1943-1965. Since the lorgnette and chain are of earlier date, it is suspected that he either repaired or replaced the spectacles. See Dorothy T. Rainwater, American Jewelry Manufacturers, p. 259.
