Catalogue Note
Frank L. Pollock, Jackson Pollock's brother, drove Jackson from California to New York, where their other brother Charles had been studying under Thomas Hart Benton since 1926. Jackson enrolled at the Art Students League and began to study under Benton in 1930. Frank Pollock befriended Benton and his wife Rita and Benton gave this painting to Frank as a gift in the 1930s.
