Condition
The paint surface is quite dirty and would benefit from a clean. Areas of fluorescence under ultra-violet light appear to correspond with the artist's brushwork. There is no retouching evident. Held in a 19th Century style composition frame with a canvas slip.

The subject of this work is the artist's wife, Edith Brice, also known as Lyndra. The couple had met through Augustus John, for whom Lyndra had occasionally modelled.
