Attributed to Antoine Pesne (1683-1757)

This would appear to be an autograph replica, of equal if not better quality, of a three-quarter length design by Pesne, of which the prime version is considered to be that of slightly larger size (146 by 11 cms.) of 1745 now in Schloss Gripsholm, Sweden (for which see E. Berckenhagen, P. du Colombier, M. Kühn and G. Poensgen, Antoine Pesne, Berlin 1958, p. 97, no. ha, reproduced). Another version, perhaps a replica of this lot, was sold Berlin, Lepke, 4 May 1915, lot 107.
