Note:
Queen Elisabeth Ludovica of Prussia, Princess of Bavaria was one of the few women of her time who could marry the man she loved. When Friedrich Wilhlem visited Bavaria in his mid twenties he fell immediately in love with her. To the end of her life she was a very beautiful woman which makes the instant affection of the Crown Prince quite understandable. However, it took four years until diplomatic intercourse could solve the religious obstacles and the couple couldmarry in 1823. Unfortunately, the marriage was not a happy one and remained childless.
