The four-armed deity standing in samapada on an inverted lotus base, holding his attributes the discus and conch, his lower right hand displaying abhaya mudra. His fine dhoti is secured at his waist with a wide jeweled girdle centering a kirttimukha and a sash elegantly knotted on both sides.

Catalogue Note

Vishnu's perfect form and erect posture signify his majesty and power and his attributes represent his complete control over all the elements of the universe. The pointed triangular form of the shrivatsa, Vishnu's identifying mark, indicates a Vijayanagar period date; see Sivaramamurti, 1977, 'Symbols in indian Art.'
