Florentine, late 16th / early 17th century after Giambologna

Description
- A Gilt bronze corpus
- after Giambologna
Catalogue Note
The present model can be very closely compared with another gilt bronze corpus in the Cleveland Museum of Art. Avery has suggested that the Cleveland corpus is a 'relict' cast from a wax master model by Giambologna, rather than a hollow-cast, finely-chased copy after Giambologna from the workshop of Antonio Susini. Like the Ohio corpus, the present model has been cast solid and it's surface left unchiselled.
