A Pair of Empire Style Painted and Parcel Giltwood Figural Lamps after a design by Charles Percier

The design of the Nubian female figure (preserved in the Musée du Louvre, Département des Arts Graphiques RF 30630), illustrated here, was executed by Charles Percier as a support for a console table.  This figure derives from a pair of seated Egyptian figures which he designed, with Fontaine, to flank the upper part of a bookcase (Percier & Fontaine, Receuil de Décorations Intérieures, Paris, 1827, pl. 28).
