William Hogarth's Largest Paintings to be Restored

Two of William Hogarth's most ambitious large-scale paintings are set to be restored. The artist's The Pool of Bethesda and The Good Samaritan, canvases which were commissioned for a staircase St Bartholomew’s hospital in London in the 1730s, have not been treated since the 1960s. The work will be carried out with the help of a recent a £4.9m grant from the National Lottery heritage fund.
