The Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples has published the volume Depositi di Capodimonte. Storie ancora da scrivere by Carmine Romano and Maria Tamajo Contarini. The publication is part of a broader national project aimed at the digitization of cultural heritage. Apart from including a catalogue of the exhibition dedicated to the depositories of the Museum (5 in total) which took place in December 2018 – October2019, it also includes a section dedicated their digitization.
The project, initially announced in 2017, aims at the digitization of around 49,000 artworks and the creation of a unique accessible database which will be able to systematically order the works and collections that have become part of the museum over the past 250 years. This will allow to accurately trace the history of each work in relation to the rest of the Museum collections and, more broadly, to other artworks that circulated within the circuit of the Bourbon Royal Sites.
