A graduate of Stanford University and the University of Virginia School of Law, Jack Kilgore began his art career as a collector of Dutch Seventeenth Century paintings. After completing law school, he received an MA in art history from the University of Virginia, worked in the Old Masters Department at Christie's in New York, and subsequently became Director of Richard L. Feigen & Co. A legendary collector and dealer of wide taste, Richard Feigen became an important influence on Mr. Kilgore, who went on to establish his own gallery in 1992.
Over the past 28 years, Jack Kilgore & Co. has developed an international reputation for offering a diverse range of exceptional European paintings. While the Gallery began by specializing in Dutch and Flemish Old Master paintings, it shifted focus over time and now handles unusual nineteenth and early twentieth century works which connect aesthetically to the Old Master idiom that originally launched Mr. Kilgore’s career.
A former board member of The Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA), Mr. Kilgore is well known for his eclectic vision and unique taste. His gallery has placed works in important private collections and in more than seventy public institutions, including The J Paul Getty Museum; The Louvre; The Metropolitan Museum; The Art Institute of Chicago; The Musee d’Orsay; The Rijksmuseum; The National Gallery of Art, London; and The National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. A regular participant in TEFAF Maastricht, the Gallery also exhibits at TEFAF New York and has exhibited at both the Frieze Masters and Masterpiece art fairs in London.
