What you need to know about higher Hermès bag prices in 2025.

How much is an Hermès Bag

Hermès is ringing in the new year with higher prices for its most popular bags. Price increases in the US were higher than Europe for the most popular Birkin and Kelly bags. On average leather Birkin and Kelly bag prices are now 6-7% higher in 2025 versus 2024. The most popular Constance 18 in Epsom leather price was unchanged in 2024 vs 2023 but is now is priced 8% higher in the US at $9,700. Prices in Europe are now around 4% higher for most bags. Interestingly the least expensive Hermès bag, the Mini Evelyne 16 in Clemance leather had the largest year over year price increase in Europe. The Evelyne 16 price increased 8.4% to 1,800 Euro from 2024. The other Hermès bag to get a more material price increase in 2025 is the Matte Alligator Mini Kelly, now 30,000 Euro, up 7.5% from 2024. This compares to Sotheby's auction sale price of around $54,000 to $66,000 for a Matte Alligator Mini Kelly in 2024.

Secondary Market Hermès Bag Prices

Secondary market prices for most popular Hermès bags in pristine condition sell at premium to the boutique price. While retail price increases impact secondary market prices, the high premium for Birkin and Kelly bags has generally resulted in stable secondary market prices the last 2-3 years. The softness in the global luxury market in 2024 also impacted secondary market prices, especially at auction.

The price for a pristine Togo leather Birkin 25 or Birkin 30 has remained around $28,000-$30,000 at Sotheby's marketplace. The secondary market premium for the Hermès Birkin 25 or Birkin 30 remains at over 2x the boutique price, even at the new higher prices. We don't anticipate the premium to increase materially, but if Hermès continues to increase prices annually year and the store price for a Birkin 30 or Birkin 25 reaches closer to $20,000, we would anticipate resale prices will also increase at similar levels. While demand for the Birkin continues to exceed supply at retail stores, it remains unclear if the 2x secondary market will remain in the long term. While we don't see another luxury bag brand competing directly with Hermès when it comes to secondary market price premium, it remains unclear if Birkins will continue to sell at over 2x the original retail price.

Leather Hermès Mini Kelly prices have remained unchanged between $33,000 - $28,000. A store fresh current date stamp Hermès Kelly Pochette in a popular neutral or new pastal color is also selling for around $30,000 or over 4.5x the boutique price. The Mini Kelly premium over retail remains the second highest after the Kelly Pochette at around 3x for a leather pristine bag with a recent date stamp. The most popular Hermès mini Kelly bags in leather are still selling for about 3x retail, even with the recent price increases. Pristine leather Hermès Kelly 25 and Kelly 28 bags have remained around $30,000- $26,000, around a 2.5x the original boutique price, similar to the leather Birkin premium.
