I n August 2024, we launched our second Global volunteering campaign. Sotheby’s recognizes the importance of community engagement and encourages all staff to use their time and skills to benefit recognized charities and organizations. The initiative offered a chance for everyone at Sotheby’s to use their volunteer time off (VTO) and reflect on the causes that inspire us, reinforcing our commitment to giving back.
“Volunteer Time Off is a vital part of our commitment to equity and impact. It allows our teams to dedicate time to causes that align with their values, fostering a deeper sense of purpose and connection. When our people engage in service, they bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and empathy back into their work. The benefits ripple outward, driving both personal fulfillment and positive change on a global scale.”
Here are just a few highlights from the Month of Giving:
Emmaüs Alternatives | Paris
In Paris, our colleagues partnered with Emmaüs Alternatives, contributing over 60 kilos of clothing and sorting through donations to support the organization’s efforts against economic insecurity.
The Marylebone Project | London
In London, our Wellness ERG and Women’s Empowerment ERG came together to support the Marylebone Project, which provides shelter and aid to homeless women. An afternoon tea with crafting activities and a career workshop were organized as part of the initiative!
Material for the Arts | New York
In New York, the Business Operations team united to sort materials at NYC’s premier creative reuse center, which provides New York City arts nonprofits, public schools, and city agencies with access to free materials.
Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman | Geneva
Our dedicated colleagues in Geneva undertook an environmental effort by working to restore and clean up the reed beds surrounding Lake Léman, partnering with the local Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman.
FairShot Café | London
A group of our London colleagues were able to come together to help support the FairShot Café, which aims to empower young adults with learning disabilities by offering the chance to gain real-life work experience through their hospitality programme.
Ali Forney Center | New York
Our teammates helped pack high-need items at the Ali Forney Center, whose mission is to safeguard LGBTQ+ youth from the dangers of homelessness and to equip them with the resources necessary for independent living.
