Biography
Walden joined Sotheby’s in 2024 after spending six years as a wine educator and importer in Houston. Between his roles in importation, education, and sales, he has been responsible for sourcing fine wines from across the globe for a range of private clients, restaurants, and retailers.
As an educator, Walden assisted in bringing the WSET Diploma program to Houston (the first program of its scope to be taught in the Southern US), as well as coordinated and taught the first-ever courses offered by the Africa Wine Academy in Accra, Ghana.
Walden’s accolades include winning the 2019 Walter Clore Scholarship for his top score in the Certified Sommelier examination, a semi-finalist berth in the 2021 Best US Sommelier competition, and first place in Houston’s 2023 Taste of Italy wine competition. Walden completed the WSET Diploma program in 2021 and is currently pursuing the prestigious Master of Wine qualification.
Before his career in wine, Walden worked as a line cook and still relishes finding the perfect bottle to match with any meal.
