Biography
Sharon Kim is Deputy Chairman of Modern Art at Sotheby’s. Possessing both connoisseurship and market savvy, Sharon provides expert-level collection management counsel and market intelligence to clients while continuing to cultivate strong relationships with major private collectors, institutions, and museums worldwide.
She has a distinguished career in the art world, with almost three decades of experience in the fine art auction and gallery world. Prior to joining Sotheby’s she was a Partner at Richard Gray Gallery and previously spent 26 years at Christie’s, serving in several senior roles in the Impressionist & Modern Art department. Sharon was appointed Christie’s Senior Vice President of Impressionist & Modern Art in 2008, and in 2011 was elected to the position of International Director.
Sharon’s passionate expertise and dedication to her clientele manifests in her long experience placing museum quality works by Modern masters. She has been instrumental in securing numerous record-breaking consignments and acquisitions including masterworks by Constantin Brancusi, Paul Cézanne, Max Ernst, René Magritte, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso.
Sharon holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Art History from Colgate University.
