Sally Fong joined Sotheby’s in 2014 as a specialist in Classical Chinese Paintings, first working out of the New York office, before joining the newly reestablished department in Hong Kong in 2015, where she has remained a core member ever since. 

Ms Fong has worked on the successful sale of numerous works, including Five Drunken Princes Returning on Horseback by Ren Renfa, which sold for a record-breaking HKD306 million (USD39.5 million) in October 2020; A Rediscovered Imperial Heirloom – Ten Auspicious Landscapes of Taishen by Qian Weichang, which fetched HKD140 million (USD17 million) in April 2018; and Landscapes and Calligraphies by Hongren from the Tsao family Collection, which sold for HKD128 million (USD16 million) in April 2021. 

Focused on single-owner collections, Ms Fong has worked with some of the most renowned private collections of Classical Chinese painting including the Mi Yun Hall Collection, which achieved HKD116 million (USD15 million) in 2016 and the Yee-Ming Kuo Collection, which surpassed its estimates more than tenfold and sold for HKD58.3 million (USD6.9 million) in 2022-2023. Additionally, Ms Fong maintains relationships with institutions and academics, for example organising the exhibition Embrace the Horizon – The Kangxi Emperor's Southern Inspection Tour, scroll VI which took place in Hong Kong in 2020. 

A graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Ms Fong holds a BA in Fine Art and a M.Phil on History of Chinese Art, specialising in Ming and Qing dynasty paintings. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Ms Fong worked for 5 years at Bonhams as a specialist in the Chinese Art department.
