Biography
Robin Wright joined Sotheby’s in 2000 bringing with her over 20 years of jewelry marketing expertise. Previously Director of Sotheby’s Arcade Jewelry Sales, she currently collaborates on all Magnificent and Fine Jewelry Sales globally. An intrepid traveler, Ms. Wright is the Lead/Senior Specialist covering the Midwest and Rocky Mountain Region surveying jewelry collections, appraising, and promoting events and exhibitions. She personally consults with and advises consignors, members of the jewelry trade and buyers alike.
Beyond the United States Ms. Wright travels to and has developed strong relationships within Asia working with her peers and clients in China, Singapore and Taiwan promoting sales, events and exhibitions worldwide.
Ms. Wright has been instrumental in procuring and showcasing many storied collections throughout her tenure including Property from the Kennedy Homes, Property from the Estate of Brooke Astor, The Collection of Mrs. Paul Mellon, The Collection of Marjorie S Fisher and Property from the Family of Betsey Cushing Whitney and John Jay Whitney.
An in-demand lecturer and educator, Robin has presented to numerous North American and international museums and industry groups, moderated luxury goods panel discussions, and taught an extensive jewelry module for Sotheby’s Institute.
In addition Ms. Wright is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America and holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology. She is also a USPAP Compliant Appraiser. As a noted expert on gemstones, Ms. Wright has brought to auction several record-setting blue diamonds from private collections.
Beyond her work, Ms. Wright is a philanthropist at heart providing her time and expertise to various entities including the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, Sirovich Senior Center in Manhattan and as an advocate for the deaf and hearing impaired.
