Marie Louise Baak

Marie Louise Baak joined Sotheby’s in 2023 as a Research Assistant. In this role, she is responsible for researching the provenance of artworks for the global Restitution Department, with a particular focus on Old Master Paintings and archival research in the Netherlands.

Marie Louise graduated with a BA in Art History from Leiden University in 2021. She then pursued an MA at VU Amsterdam, where she specialised in the Venetian painter Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini. During her MA she interned at Sotheby’s Amsterdam in 2022 which led to a permanent position in the Restitution Department.
